Joan Jonas – Performance at de Appel

In this video a story about a girl is being told by Joan Jonas. Her real voice is alternated with her voice recorded on the tape. She herself and the tape tell the different fragments of the story. The story is accompanied by the music played by the barrel organ. In the video we only see the perforated strip of paper pulled through the barrel organ. In the middle the performance is stopped abruptly and we see the preparation for the performance: check of the microphone and other equipment.
