Co-Speaking Programma: HOE KUN JE NOU ZO LEVEN (THIN LINE)

11.05.2016
de Appel, Prins Hendrikkade 142, Amsterdam

Screening of HOE KUN JE NOU ZO LEVEN (THIN LINE), presented by Freek Boon from De Rotterdamse Beeldmaatschappij (programmed by Platform BK)

Albeit unaware, we all have an opinion: guys without a job, a cigarette in one hand, a beer can in the other... It's easy to label them as junkie, leach, or welfare case. A reason for the producers to show that there is more than one truth. The men central in this film present a viewpoint that is both piercing and confronting. Thin Line is not always comfortable to watch but provides pressing critical comments from an unexpected angle. This "fascinating perspective on the standard thinking of our society", as the jury report stated, was rewarded with a Wildcard by the Dutch Filmfund in 2014.

DE ROTTERDAMSE BEELDMAATSCHAPPIJ creates confronting and disrupting content that show the other side of prevailing ideas in society. Without falling into exoticism, voyeurism, or idolising people.

Platform BK

Platform Beeldende Kunst is a strategic coalition that mobilizes existing networks and maps out new connections in order to develop a foundation for joint action and spoke manship. Our aim is to positively affect the current perception and public opinion of arts and culture; to influence political decision-making in conjunction with existing interest groups such as De Zaak Nu and Kunsten 92; and to put forward new logics that can (re)define the significance of art.
