Screening and presentation by Sven Lütticken / ongoing performances

18.05.2014
de Appel, Prins Hendrikkade 142, Amsterdam

16:00–18:00 uur
I WILL MAKE NO CONCESSIONS TO THE PUBLIC IN THIS FILM. I BELIEVE THERE ARE SEVERAL GOOD REASONS FOR THIS DECISION, AND I AM GOING TO STATE THEM.

On Sunday the 18th of May at 16:00 h we are going to screen In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni (1978), the last film by the situationist Guy Debord, the title of which is a medieval Latin palindrome meaning “we turn in the night and are consumed by fire”.
The screening will be accompanied by a short introduction and comment by Sven Lütticken, focusing on the historicizing and retrospective aspects of the film, and on the 'afterlife' of the SI.

This appointment is part of the public programme organised by the de Appel Curatorial Programme 2013-14 as part of the exhibition Father, Can't You See I'm Burning?
