Archival Presentation: Barbara Bloom & General Idea at LAURENZ
14:00–20:00
LAURENZ, Vienna and de Appel, Amsterdam
General Idea, Test Tube (1979)
LAURENZ presents their second collaboration with the Archive of de Appel, in an exhibition in Vienna, on view until 12 December 2026. This loan from de Appel Archive presents the video work Test Tube (1979) by General Idea and the short film Diamond Lane (1981) by Barbara Bloom, together with connected ephemeral findings from the archive.
During the same period, visitors in Amsterdam can follow the exhibition at LAURENZ through images displayed on a monitor in de Appel Archive (accessible during regular opening hours). A selection of books published by LAURENZ will be available to read.
LAURENZ is an independent exhibition space in Vienna focused on artistic experimentation and discourse. Housed in a former horse stable dating from the late 19th century, LAURENZ’s exhibition spaces are tucked away in the back building, in the areas that once housed the horses and servants. The space retains its original architectural features, reflecting an approach that values its history and preserves its character. LAURENZ was founded in 2020 by Aaron Amar Bhamra and Monika Georgieva, alumna of the de Appel Curatorial Programme (2022).
