Arefeh Riahi (b. 1979, Tehran) is a visual artist and researcher currently based in The Hague. Her performances, videos, installations, drawings, texts and paintings take up questions of archiving and anarchiving, undecidability, body and space potentialities, relation to power, censorship, translatability, and the multiplicity of interpretation.

interrāre, al-dafn: Scattering and the counter Archive, collection (unintended)
this note was given to me during the women’s uprising in Tehran. A stranger woman gave it to me in the street. The written text on it says ”with your hair and courage, the world is a better place to live in”. It was a secret way of resistance, acknowledgement between women who were resisting and refusing to wear vail.
