This talk by Saba Innab is constructed around two imaginaries: the imaginary of the museum as a “coloniser”, and the imaginary of the land as a source of incessant knowledge that resists its demise and appropriation. Using the vertical section of a typical Palestinian peasant house as a starting point, The talk reveals multiple layers and interpretations of know-how embedded in place, as well as the possibilities for anti-colonial resistance that this knowledge harbours.

During Museumnacht, CaccHho CucchhA by Mercedes Azpilicueta transforms into a lively game night. Inspired by the ways children play, move, and imagine new stories together, the exhibition becomes the stage for a series of short activities lasting 10–20 minutes.

Join artist Mercedes Azpilicueta for a tour through the exhibition CaccHho CucchhA on Sunday 2 and 16 November. This scenographic exhibition treats play as invention, disobedience, and commons making. Commissioned by de Appel, the project unfolds as an immersive ecosystem of modular sculptural costumes, play platforms and a large tapestry, activated through an ongoing series of workshops with children, families, and invited collaborators.

The collaborative project The Broken Pitcher by Natascha Sadr Haghighian, Marina Christodoulidou and Peter Eramian traces the effects of financialisation and austerity by looking at the banking system and the potentials for changing the script of interacting with it. At de Appel the project takes a multi-fold formation: a one-to-one scale model of a bank room that functions both as an exhibition space and a film set.

The Complaints Choir is back and looking for new voices to turn complaining into an art form. The Complaints Choir is a DIY, community art project in which singers and non-singers alike come together to sing about their complaints. Led by musician Azubike Onwuka, the choir will explore different perspectives and issues by complaining, composing and singing together. The Complaints Choir is serious and light-hearted, and makes room for both recognition and humour.
