Big love, Big data

15.02.2016
de Appel, Prins Hendrikkade 142, Amsterdam

On Monday, February 15, 2016 from 8:30 - 9:30 pm, music theatre company Het Geluid presents Big love, Big data at de Appel arts centre. Big love, Big data is an opera-performance reflecting on themes and arias from Mozart’s seminal opera Così fan tutte, which is currently being presented throughout the Netherlands by De Nederlandse Reisopera. .

What does the current technological condition mean for the art of love? Are we turning our affections into statistics? Are we smothering our love in the passionless flatness of numbers? Or is technology helping us find that one true love? Both love and modern flows of information present us with a complex chaos of numbers, desires and emotions. The question is how to find a partner in the era of GPS tracking. How to capture and express jealousy, desire and lust within data streams. Is love different in the current information age than it was in the age of Mozart and Da Ponte? Do we love differently than our parents and grandparents? Using minimal means, these grand invisible things will become momentarily tangible in Big love, Big data.
