Come to de Appel arts centre on 1 February, at 9:00 p.m., and with a laugh and a tear celebrate the farewell of director Ann Demeester.

After a period of seven years Ann Demeester is leaving de Appel arts centre to become director of the Frans Hals Museum | De Hallen Haarlem. In 2006, Ann made her debut at de Appel arts centre with the performance marathon ‘That was then This is Now’, in which she herself also danced in the performance of ‘Showdance’, by the choreographer Alexandra Bachzetsis.

We will miss her in the Amsterdam scene, and therefore want to say our goodbyes with a ‘performative’ blowout. The legendary composer Charlemagne Palestine – who also carried out a small ritual at Ann Demeester's welcome party – will be there with a performance, the eccentric Voin de Voin will enchant with a fitting story, the artists' collective Bissy Bunder is coming up from Antwerp in a new formation, and the charming ladies of Echo&Seashell will put the icing on the cake for this absurdist and colourful evening. DJ Lonely and DJ Falafel will be spinning the disks for us.

Dance and sing a song if you dare, or toast profusely!
