On the occasion of the book Institutional Attitudes by Pascal Gielen several speakers will present their ideas about the role and position of the art institute.

Classical art institutes, as museums, opera's or repertoir theaters, played an important role in defining and shaping a standard for national culture. The question is however, if they are still capable to deepen this role within a global context, in a world based on networking and horizontal structures.

On the occasion of the book Institutional Attitudes by Pascal Gielen several speakers will present their ideas about the role and position of the art institute.

Lectures by: Bart De Baere (M HKA), Gerald Raunig (eipcp - European Institute for Progressive Cultural Policies, Vienna) and Stefaan De Clerck (politicion for CD&V)

Debates with: Chris Dercon (Tate Modern, Londen), Mieke Van Hecke (Flemish secretariat of Catholic Education) and Aviel Cahn (Flemish Opera). Moderator is Ward Daenen (De Morgen).
