On Sunday 22 September Uta Grosenick will give a public talk in de Appel arts centre entitled: International Art Galleries: From ‘Living Room’ to ‘White Cube,’ from ‘White Cube’ to ‘Art Adventure’. The talk gives an overview of the pioneers amongst the art dealers and the development of the international art scene and art market over the last seventy years, as well as an insight into recent trends.

The talk gives an overview of the pioneers amongst the art dealers and the development of the international art scene and art market over the last seventy years, as well as an insight into recent trends. Featured are among many others: Peggy Guggenheim, Heiner Friedrich, Denise René, Ernst Beyeler, Seth Siegelaub, Paula Cooper, Konrad Fischer, Bart van de Veen, Judy Lybke, Jay Jopling, Larry Gagosian and Michele Maccarone.
Uta Grosenick worked as an exhibition manager at Deichtorhallen Hamburg and the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, and was curator at Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg. She has edited numerous books on contemporary art for Taschen publishers: Art at the Turn of the Millennium (1999), Women Artists (2001), ART NOW (2002), ART NOW Vol 2 (2005). From 2006 until 2009 she worked as editorial director at DuMont publishers, Cologne, for whom she co-authored International Art Galleries: Post-War to Post-Millennium (2005) and edited a.o. CHINA ART BOOK, PHOTO ART and Tobias Rehberger 1993–2008. Since 2010 she is publisher of DISTANZ in Berlin.
