Pleased to meet you during Amsterdam Art Weekend

On 2 December from 4 – 6 pm, the participants of the inaugural year of the Gallerist Programme present themselves to the public. The 10 participants, coming from backgrounds as diverse as Bogota, Buenos Aires, Dallas, Tallinn, Taipei and Worcester, talk about their respective art contexts and their interest in the art market in a marathon of mini-speeches.

The 2012 Amsterdam Art Weekend is the first edition of an annual event in which galleries, post-graduate artists-in-residence, museums and other cultural institutions will hold exciting state-of-the-art exhibitions with works by young and established international artists. The Amsterdam Art Weekend will make top quality contemporary art accessible to an audience varying from international professionals to arts aficionados and curious visitors.
This first edition of the Amsterdam Art Weekend will take place on 30 November and 1 and 2 December 2012. Participating galleries will present a program of special exhibitions on their own premises and all will have the same extended opening hours. During the weekend, the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten will host the annual Open Studio event. Other partners participating in the program include De Ateliers, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and de Appel Arts Centre. With the newly reopened Stedelijk Museum and de Appel Arts Centre’s new exhibition space, Capital A sees a great opportunity to demonstrate the renewed energy of the Amsterdam art scene.
