Hans van Houwelingen is an unconventional and critical, but nevertheless highly acclaimed Dutch artist. As a result of his uneasy relation with art in ‘the white cube’ he became more and more involved in large comissions for artworks in public spaces. Extremely experienced as far as dealing with commisioners is concerned and still an outspoken and original advocate of the independent stand or position of the artist. In his lecture he will unveil his strategies towards art in relation to political institutions.
