Submission is a 12 minutes short film directed by Theo van Gogh and written by Ayaan Hirsi Ali ; it was shown on the Dutch public broadcasting network (VPRO) on August 29, 2004. The film’s title is a direct translation of the Arabic word “Islam”. As a result of the film, van Gogh was assassinated by a Muslim fundamentalist. This incident marked as the political turning point of Holland, one of the world’s most liberal state.
