From the 29th of May till the 13th of June de Appel presents a new collaborative project between David Weber-Krebs and Alexander Schellow, called "Een Voorspel". In a slightly mysterious way a one-on-one performance will take place in the La Place restaurant in the OBA (the public library at the Oosterdokskade, Amsterdam). Through a phone conversation, temptations and immersion will be created. After a 15-minute walk, the spectator will experience an enigmatic encounter between him- or herself and an enigmatic place.

Background
David Weber-Krebs is an interdisciplinary theater maker. He studied French literature and Religious Studies in Fribourg (CH) and Berlin. In Amsterdam he attended the Mime education at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten. In his work he moves between film, performance-art and physical theater.
Alexander Schellow is a visual artist. His practice deals with memory reconstruction within different formats of drawing series and animation movies.In several collaborations he has used this tool to develop performative spatial concepts. He has previously worked on a similar project together with David Weber-Krebs, where a one-person performance was set in the old building in de Appel ("Miniature", 2008/2009).

Purpose
- to allow volunteers to take part in the rehearsal and performance of "Een Voorspel" as members of the cast.
- a unique opportunity to be part of the process of a performance and its execution
-creative involvement with de Appel
- to work alongside the artists David Weber-Krebs and Alexander Schellow, professional assistants and the production team at de Appel.

Skills and qualities needed
de Appel is looking for people with organizational and initiative skills who can coordinate the performances organized on location. We are looking for someone who has the ability to take direction and follow instructions, someone who has the willingness to work as part of a team. We prefer a volunteer who can speak Dutch and English.

Time and content
- Five days of rehearsal: 5 days prior to the performance.
- Rehearsals run from the 24th till the 28th of May, 2010.
- The project will run from the 29th May till the 13th of June, and the performances will take place in the afternoons and early evenings.

The casting days are the 19th and the 20th of April, we will let you know as soon as possible on which day you are invited.

The volunteers will receive reimbursements for certain expenses made.
