Award Ceremony – Prize for Young Dutch Art Criticism 2008

de Appel, Fonds BKVB and Witte de With are pleased to announce the nominees for the first Prize for Young Dutch Art Criticism. The prize was initiated this year by the aforementioned parties to offer an incentive to a new generation of art critics and invest in the future of a qualitative art writing. From 14 May through 30 June young writers up until 35 years could send in applications in the categories Essay and Review. On 9 October the winners will be rewarded with money prizes of respectively €12.500 and €7.500.
The jury judged the applications anonymously and decided on a shortlist with two candidates for both categories, with a surprising double nomination for Christophe van Gerrewey.

The prize-giving will take place on 9 October at 6 p.m. in Zaal de Unie, Mauritsweg 34, Rotterdam. Doors will open at 5.30 p.m. The award ceremony is open to all, however we advise the audience to come early in consideration of limited seats.
