'Locating the Producers' – Interrogating the Curator

As part of "Locating the Producers" an investigation into place-bound contemporary art commissioning, Situations, UK in partnership with de Appel will bring together a group of art specialists to interrogate CP curators Yulia Aksenova, Jesse Birch, Sarah Farrar, Inti Guerrero and Virginija Januskeviciute about their final year project “Master Humphrey's Clock”. The curators will be questioned by invited interlocators Kerstin Bergendhal (Artist/ Curator, Denmark); Mick Wilson (Director, Gradcam, Dublin); Jonathan Banks (Director, IXIA - UK National Public Art Think-Tank); Jeanne van Heeswijk (Artist/ Curator, The Blue House); Tom van Gestel (Curator, SKOR, Amsterdam); Renee Ridgway (curator, Amsterdam); Dennis Kaspori (Blue House Association of the Mind) and Sara Black (Curator and Director, ProjectBase, Cornwall). This public event will question the decisions made by the curators, their criteria for selection and their approach to curating in place. The event will investigate the curatorial challenges, the pitfalls and the key issues of curating a short-term exhibitionary project within the specific context of Leidsche Rijn.
