INFORMANCE and Journal Launch
de Appel, Nieuwe Spiegelstraat 10, Amsterdam
The symposium "As Yet..." is a co-production of de Appel and the Jan van Eyck Academy, Maastricht, and is devoted to the theme 'speculation'. By means of lectures, performances and films, artists and theoreticians will be exploring their works on notions concerning 'speculative reason', the irrational and the unverifiable. With a.o. Patricia Railing (UK), Kodwo Eshun (UK), Bill Aitchison (UK), Sönke Hallman (DE), Albert van der Schoot (NL). Moderated and organised by Falke Pisano (NL) and Will Holder (GB).
The afternoon of 'As Yet...' is concluded with the launch of the first issue of FR DAVID, a new 'journal' published by de Appel. FR DAVID focuses on 'writing' as a mode that inspires, guides and interprets, contemporary artistic production. The 'journal' highlights the status of language in art-pratice and theory. The theme of the first issue is 'speculation' and it contains, besides essays by speakers on 'As Yet...', contributions by Vilém Flusser (CZ), Benoit Maire (FR), Seth Price (USA), H.M. Bateman (AUS/UK), Stuart Bailey (UK) & Frances Stark (USA).
