Knowles: 'The objects that I investigate in my work are found in the street or are very familiar and come from daily use. The more real and ordinary they are, the more interesting they become to me. They offer clues to reality and have become the stuff of my art. I observe, examine and collect. I present no specific meanings or theories about these little things that come my way.... That are just waiting for me to pick them up.'
