Programme
â—‹ MartĂn La Roche, MusĂ©e LĂ©gitime
MartĂn La Roche is a visual artist who works with stories, memories, and collections of objects. During the Ruwe Diamant Festival, he will present parts of his project, MusĂ©e LĂ©gitime, a museum inside a hat, where small works of art and personal stories come together. He will also exhibit works on handmade paper and invite visitors to share and discover stories from the neighbourhood.
â—‹ Palestinian Tatreez workshops with Rima Musa
Join a creative Tatreez workshop with Rima Musa, where children and parents can discover the art of Palestinian cross-stitch embroidery. Together, children will discover colourful patterns and the stories hidden within them, inspired by traditions passed down from generation to generation. Each child will create their own embroidered design on a wooden bookmark to take home. Suitable for children aged 5 and over.
â—‹ Book market
With Terry Bleu and HOTHEAD, the festival will feature two local creators and platforms from the neighbourhood who are dedicated to artistic print culture and independent publications. From their market stalls, they will present artist’s books, zines, prints and other forms of printed material.
Terry Bleu is an independent print workshop and publishing house based on Van Ostadestraat in Amsterdam. From their studio, Hugo Rocci and Brent Dahl collaborate with artists on playful, colourful and surprising prints, publications and artist’s books. With a hands-on approach to the bookmaking process, they treat every publication as a unique work of art and a portable exhibition. During the festival, they will present a selection of prints and publications from their collection.
HOTHEAD is an independent book and record shop located on Van Woustraat in Amsterdam. From their small 9 m² shop space, they sell a selection of zines, art publications, books, cassettes and vinyl relating to music, art, subcultures and independent media. In addition, HOTHEAD functions as a cultural platform hosting radio shows, listening sessions, presentations and small exhibitions.
