Description

Barbara Wijnveld's (1972) paintings balance on the edge between figuration and abstraction. She makes recognisable motifs dissolve into an abstract pattern and uses materials other than paint (crystals, plastic, etc.) to create autonomous areas in the composition. Wijnveld's work is about the visual confusion brought about by the simultaneous experience of simplicity and complexity.
