In addition to their own specific curriculum, the participants of the Curatorial Programme will be presented with a broad range of contemporary visual and performance arts in Amsterdam and beyond.
Besides a large range of museums (Stedelijk Museum, Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum), Amsterdam is home to a considerable number of internationally operating galleries (Annet Gelink, Paul Andriesse, Lumen Travo, Ellen de Bruijne projects, etc.) and several non-profit and artist-run spaces (W139, Smart Project Space, Mediamatic).
The city has two universities (University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit) and several international research schools, such as the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis, that also offer general lecture series. Amsterdam is home to the Rietveld Art Academy and the Sandberg Institute, and has two internationally acclaimed postgraduate institutes for artists: De Ateliers and the Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunsten.
Lastly, Amsterdam is ideally located for visiting museums and art institutes throughout the Netherlands. Belgium, Germany, France and Great Britain are within easy reach.
